NRG Building Systems, Australian owned and manufactured, is the market leader in Polystyrene products with 18 years’ experience. NRG has plants based in QLD, NSW, and VIC, NRG Building Systems has 60+ distributors nationwide.
What was happening when you engaged Transfirm?
The business was going well and we knew it could be even better. As a CodeMark certified manufacturer, traceability through the production process is critical. We saw an opportunity to digitise how this was done and move away from our existing paper-based systems.
We also knew that some of our methods were a bit ‘old school’ and could be improved, particularly in the areas of HR, Work Health & Safety and Sales Management.
What was the first thing you did with Transfirm?
The very first thing we did was restructure the way financial information was reported to provide more insight into the operations. We then modified our pricing to reflect changes in input costs and continue to do this on an annual basis.
We then mapped our logistics and freight processes for each state implemented our new online management system. This management system enabled us to move forward and digitise other key processes in the form of easy-to-use apps that improved HR, traceability, sales, customer relationship management, and plant safety.
How did you feel at the time?
I knew the business needed to do this work and felt very good about it. I felt good knowing that we were putting the infrastructure in place to make growing the business much easier.
What made the most impact?
The most impact was probably in terms of compliance and traceability. The work we did to digitise batch records using apps has made things a lot simpler for everyone. It’s very easy to use and the guys in the factory-like it – they are all on board with it. The CodeMark auditor was very impressed and even our industry regulator showed interest in the solution we co-created with Transfirm.
Also, having digitised sales and customer relationship management processes has helped a lot As did the IR and HR processes. It all made an impact.
What did you achieve from your work with Transfirm?
Overall we saved time, made things more efficient, and reduced business risk by significantly improving our compliance – we have set up our operations management systems for growth.
