Marrison Hydraulics employs 15 staff and is located south of the NSW/QLD border in Murwillumbah Northern NSW. They supply and service equipment to the transport, earthmoving, quarry, and mining industries.
What was happening when you engaged Transfirm?
We realised we needed help because we were putting out fires every day. Revenue was increasing but the stress wasn’t worth it.
What was the first thing you did with Transfirm?
Initially, David worked with our staff to conduct a ‘Discovery’ and we quickly learned that we needed to improve accountability, communication and remove paper from the business. Our general work environment is much better now as a result of us taking the time to address what we found in the ‘Discovery Phase’.
How did you feel at the time?
At the start we felt apprehensive – money is always on your mind and we weren’t sure it would work. We initially thought we wanted our inventory process fixed but through the journey, we realised we needed other things too. Within 6 months (working 1 day a week) we saw the savings and the vision – we are healthy and we now have systems that enable us to grow quickly and efficiently.
What was the thing that made the most impact?
We’ve saved money. We would have relied on the old ways and paid good money with no accountability, no communication, and the wheel would have kept spinning.
What did you achieve from your work with Transfirm?
We have got an inventory process that changed us completely and we realised the importance of processes in our business. We have a scheduling system that works and makes our staff and customers happy. Visibility and control over our workplace have improved with mobile access to training records, pre-start checks, SOP’s, Work Orders, etc. We have a team that is happy with communication.
We are no longer reactive. We’re not involved directly with the day-to-day as much now and instead, we work on improvements. We feel free and our minds are not cluttered – we can find all the information we need in one place.
